If you plan to buy your own computer, the college recommends the following guidelines to insure your new PC MAC will give you the best performance possible.

Windows PC Desktop or Laptop Configuration:

Operating system; WIN XP Pro or WIN Vista

Intel Core 2 Duo

80 GB (or larger) Hard Disk Drive - 5GB of Free Hard Disk Space

Ethernet Cable

802.11 a/b/g Wireless Card - for Laptops

1GB of RAM (or greater) Recommended - 512MB Minimum

CD-ROM/DVD Drive w/ CD R/RW + DVD R +/-

Color Monitor (Flat panel recommended)

10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet Network Card to connect to the campus network in the Residence Hall

Apple
Note: All new Mac Computers are appropriately configured for use on the B-W Network

Apple Desktop or Laptop Minimum Requirements:

Power Macintosh G4, G5, or Intel Core 2 Duo Chip MacBook ( Basic or Pro), iMac, or iBook

MAC OS 10.0 or higher

CD-ROM/DVD Drive with CD RW capability - Minimum

Minimum 512 MB of RAM (or greater)

40 GB (or larger) Hard Disk Drive

10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet Network Card

Airport 802.11 n (or earlier)

Airport supported in most areas of campus (MAC OS 10.3 or higher required)
