Assignment: As the major
individual project of this class, you will each produce an audio-visual
program (using PowerPoint, Sony Vegas, etc.) of “digital storytelling” in
which you’ve fictionalized yourself into a foreign-country setting, telling
us about your country, its imports/exports, cultural traditions, and more.
The advance assignment is to 1) review and select a country, 2) ask the
instructor for approval (so that there are no duplications), and 3) prepare
a short introduction of your selected country for presentation (3-4 minutes;
PowerPoint preferred) during the FIRST CLASS SESSION.
NOTE: This advance work counts for 5%
of your course grade…and gets you off to a good start. 1)
Go to
www.state.gov/countries – then
click on “Background notes” (under General Information). Read through the
background information for several countries that you might be interested in
researching. Since you will be spending a lot of time investigating the
country and developing an audio-visual program (while becoming our “expert”
on that particular country), try to find one that interests you.
Note: It cannot be your country of citizenship or residence. 2)
For approval to proceed, email
your request of country to the instructor (dauble@bw.edu) as early as
possible. 3)
On the first day of class you
will be expected to make a short introduction (3-4 minutes; PowerPoint
preferred) of the country you have selected. Email Prof.
Donald C. Auble if you have any questions –
